Development command#
Usage:
zyn dev [--http|--https] [--no-input]
Supervise HTTP, background jobs, and PostgreSQL together. Use serve for HTTP only.
Example:
zyn dev --http
Documentation: zyn docs cli/dev
Starts the bundled PostgreSQL service and supervises the development web server and registered background-job worker. Source changes rebuild and restart both application processes. An unexpected exit of their combined supervisor is reported and starts a replacement without waiting for another source change. The worker is omitted when the job registry is empty. The ignored .zyn/dev_server executable is reused while its application, framework, compiler, generated inputs, and executable content remain current; otherwise zyn recompiles it. Output from the app, job worker, and database is shown in the terminal and appended without terminal escapes to logs/dev.log. Request- and job-correlated terminal records show the first eight hexadecimal characters of their ID; logs/dev.log retains all 32 characters.
If this project already has a running PostgreSQL service, zyn dev reuses it and leaves it running when the app stops. Set NO_COLOR for plain output.
When Caddy is installed on PATH, the app uses local HTTPS. Without Caddy, zyn reports the fallback once and uses HTTP. When Caddy's generated root is not trusted by the operating system, a foreground interactive terminal offers to run Caddy's one-time trust setup; other runs report the exact manual command. --http forces HTTP; --https requires Caddy.
New projects set db.profiles.development.log_queries = true in zyn.zon, adding SQL {QUERY} application records without logging separately bound values. Set it to false to suppress them. With --no-input, an untrusted local HTTPS root fails without offering or attempting trust installation. Approve trust in an interactive run first, or select --http. An already trusted root does not require consent.
